President Bush, I respectfully say.. “JUST SAY NO TO DETROIT!”. The 700 billion dollars that TAXPAYERS allowed the government to use to stabilize our credit and financial markets was not, I repeat, was NOT alloted for use in saving a floundering Detroit Auto Industry. Men and women are losing jobs all over the country and they are actually trying to stay competitive and do what is necessary to market themselves in a changing world. The Detroit Auto makers have FAILED in management. The UAW is resistant to being anything other than a financial liability to the big three car makers and now, the american taxpayer. This is wrong. Handouts are not the answer for any self respecting American.. person or company. There is growth in failure… the automakers need to go through bankruptcy because it MUST CHANGE… it must become competitive with better management and the end of the antiquated UAW.
I applaud our Republican Senators for being the watchdogs for the American taxpayer… No more, no more money for industry that is not working. This is wrong… let them fail. Only through the measures from failure can we find success. Success is our goal.. we must move forward and auto workers must learn how to be competitive… further if the individual goal is a path way to greater financial success.. retraining, additional education and geographical moves must be considered. Just like every success story in America … this crisis requires think outside the box. We must innovate not exacerbate…
