To Colin Powell or not Colin Powell

Okay ya’ll … what in the sam hill is all this nonsense about Colin Powell… if Colin Powell was a moderate he would not have back that Obama feller..

Colin Powell is not the face of the moderate, not the face of the conservative, and not the new any thing of the Republican Party.  Pleez…Colin Powell is as useless as a sore thumb.  He has backed a fiscal nightmare in the shape of the Obama for Lord’s sake… Powell couldn’t unite a chain link fence let alone the Grand Ole Party.

Republicans know better… as much as detractors like say otherwise… we have had time to consider our options… and a guy who backed the next best thing to pure Socialism … does not have “vision” or “voice” that Republicans want.  I wouldn’t vote for Powell for any government position.. he shows poor judgement.

This isn’t hard folks – the choice for “voice” isn’t the Cheney, Limbaugh, Powell that the mainstream media folks want to shove down our throats..that would be as dumb as a box of rocks.

There are lots of other choices that I can see:

Heard of Duncan Hunter? Or Mark Sanford? Or even Bobby Jindal for that matter…

Unlike the Democrats in power… Republicans have choices and we can pick our own date for the dance – thank you very much!

What an Adam Lambert’s loss can mean to Barack Obama…

Ya’ll tonight was a shocker.. I sat there in front of the TV set and well… shut my mouth because I could hardly speak but to yell!  Woot!

Never mind what we normal folks thought… the American Idol winner  had been proclaimed without question by the mainstream media, the critics, and Hollywood for weeks – Adam Lambert had been crowned by all.  In other words, Kris Allen didn’t have a snowball’s chance in H*** of winning this contest.

But, guess what?  It sure didn’t happen that a way now did it?

You may be wondering… what in the heck does Adam Lambert’s loss have to do with the POTUS, better known as the Obama?

This is how I see it:

May 20th, an another election night has drawn to a close.

America once again made its choice and the differences in the candidates were striking.

The results were tallied and the expected outcome was an upset.

In a Dewey Defeats Truman moment, underdog Kris Allen defeated media darling Adam Lambert.

No, this is not the 2012 Presidential race – this was bigger; this was American Idol, for goodness sake!

For the next week, the pundits will be weighing in on what Lambert did wrong, how the voting was rigged, and the effect Gokey voters flocking to Allen out of revenge had on the outcome.

For his sake, I hope the current American Idol in Chief, Barrack Obama stayed up late in the Oval Office and waited for the final returns.

There may be something in this election which might concern him.  Looks like there could be a fly in the ointment … because the change that is happening in this country doesn’t look like it is going left.

This American Idol, with all its glitz and glamour, had several parallels with recent political races. For instance, here was Adam Lambert, a talented young man with many of the same qualities and advantages Obama enjoyed during his campaigns and to this day.

The media heaped praise on Lambert and leaked early on that Lambert was the inside favorite to win.  If anyone argues that was not the case with Obama in 2008, they need their head examined.

Guess that dog didn’t hunt in this case… because Mainstream Media and even most of Hollywood’s elite couldn’t influence this vote…

Lambert was clearly well trained in his craft and a great singer, able to take any song, mold it into his own, raise to an emotional crescendo and convince the audience his version was better and more energetic than the original.  That same thing could be said of nearly every Obama speech since 2004.

Even more, Lambert had the advantages and resources none of the other candidates did. He had multiple professional costumes and clearly, someone was tousling those locks between each commercial break (and checking the eyeliner and nail polish). While thankfully, Obama does not wear nail polish, he obviously had plenty of deep pockets to fund and furnish his meteoric rise to stardom out of obscurity.

What about coaches and mentors who must have guided young Mr. Lambert in song, dance and presentation? That did not come naturally. Whether it was under the tutelage of Bill Ayers “Alinsky Boot Camp for Community Organizers” or “Separatism Preaching 101″ hosted by the Reverend Wright, the Prez had his share of demanding and disciplined instructors as well. Nobody can honestly say Obama devised his campaign platform and administration during his weekly walks to the barber, no more than they believe Lambert learned to sing in the shower.

Funny thing was that Lambert had the same problem Obama had when it came to his background. Adam Lambert took viewers behind the scenes to his past life which included a visit to the theatre where he performed his first musical. Noticeably absent were a trip down memory lane with parents, relatives and a visit to the family home. Like Obama, Lamberts;’ past is limited to what is planned and approved for the media and fans. There will be no questions about where he was born, questions about paperwork or school records or photos.

It was a whole other story with winner Kris Allen’s visit to small town Conway, Arkansas, talks with mom, dad and devoted wife at home as well as the strong and open influence of his Christian faith. Did this affect the viewers trust and votes for Lambert?

The questions for Barrack Obama may come about in the 2012 elections…if not sooner..

While he assuredly will have the resources, money and staff to put him on stage with his teleprompter at well choreographed events. And there will be the media clearly in the tank again for Mr. Hope and Change. The problem will be that fickle American public who frequently values substance over style.

Lambert may have wowed us out of the gate, but after 12 weeks, his theatrics and drama grew predictable and boring. Could it be that an authentic sounding Kris Allen, with the small town good looks and humble attitude overcame the Lambert juggernaut despite all the time and training?

Obama may find himself regretting that his first turn on stage had him against a political equivalent of Taylor Hicks.

Obama better worry there is not a Kris Allen waiting for him in 2012.

He may end up hearing his own Simon Cowell informing him that his time is over and it’s time to go home.

Now wouldn’t that just take the cake?!

Mortgaging our future… You just figured that out Mr. Obama?

With little sleep over the last 72 hrs… I am sorry to say, I am just not my charming self ya’ll.  With baby #3 in tow, dealing w/ a bit of a runny nose … sleep has been as elusive as money around here…

So, as I am laughing to myself envisioning the image of Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi being taken out by her own… torches lit, storming her palace.. I have to take a step back and think..

This is also what her current Boss, the Obama wants.  The two of them have never tangoed together well.   The fact that the CIA who cannot release  a memo for Cheney, but handily declassifies memos that gets “we are the honest Party”, Pelosi, tarred and feathered by the biased Press.. W/out her Boss stepping in…

Hmmm.. Smells to me like confirmation of how some animals eat their young. Yep, in this case, I do mean the Democrats.

In another twist… The POTUS has decided that, YEP,… Deficit spending isn’t “sustainable”.   Doesn’t that just take the cake?! (story here)

Wish he could have figured that out on his way to writing a Spending Bill to end all spending bills and tripled the deficit… his sudden “after the fact “economic” sense the man never showed… only tells me that, ya’ll  we are in for a shake down by the darling federal government… yep, the Obama is getting ready to explain why in the heck he is going to have to tax every American no matter what class, that includes, upper, middle, and all…

I am not the brightest bulb in the lamp, especially now in my sleep challenged state… but even I could do the figuring and see that health care costs do not equal his deficit spending… nope, cutting back on beauracratic paper does NOT a tree make…

Maybe if we quit sustaining the UAW or  if the state of Illinois just didn’t get quite so many free public works projects … or if the Obama would quit hirin’ people!!!– Wonder if our inventors, investors and what not, would actually have a chance to make our ailin’ economy better.  This makes me madder than a Hatter…that in this great nation Capitalism does not exist w/ the current regime in power..  the abilities that Americans have a cornered market on.. (entreprenuer spirit, American know how) cannot be called upon, due to Government restraint, to make us stronger.

I am still trying to figure out where the 4.9 billion for Acorn is going to come from?  Cuts on Defense… Do you think ammunition or trucks are figured as luxuries… or maybe, it will be by taxing the interest on home loans for those of us left in our homes.. the words “barking up the wrong tree” come to mind..

My, my, my… all the ballyhoo is coming from the President who had no idea the Tea Parties across the nation were going on…and has a problem w/ listening to your basic Americans’ issues with his lack of Economic “smarts”.  I am mighty sure there will be Tea Parties even larger come July 4th…with even more to be upset about…

You gotta laugh… I mean, how can we take this President with any bit of seriousness..I just see someone who is too big for his britches.

About the Obama jokes you won’t hear on the Tonight Show…

So, a group of comedy writers were sittin’ around when the question came about… why are there no “Obama” jokes??

David Lettermen claims that it would be “political nitpicking”…and has repeatedly praised the new president (“You gotta like this guy . . . by God, this guy is out there, doing stuff. He’s always got stuff going on”).

I wonder if Lettermen has ever watched a monster truck muddin’ before.. same difference.

Bill Maher says,”Obama is the new God.”

Gawd awful would be a better description to me…but I am no Comic..

“You don’t want to appear racist,” said Buddy Winston, a former writer for the “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.” “You can’t do the stereotypical thing. Someone who’s a Texan or an elite is much easier to attack.”

So, fear, hero worshipping w/ out the benefit of a hero… seem to serve as reasons these Comedians refuse to poke fun at the biggest comic relief our country has seen since Dan Quayle…even “W” that the liberals have dubbed “evil” had a right good sense of humor.  A good sense of humor will get you on the guest list of supper at my home anytime..

Wanda Sykes was at the White House Correspondents Association dinner Saturday night and she had no problem getting giggles from the POTUS  when she decided Rush Limbaugh was a good target:

“Mr. President . . . you’ve had your fair share of critics. … Rush Limbaugh, one of your big critics, boy — Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails. So you’re saying, ‘I hope America fails.’ You’re like, ‘I don’t care about people losing their homes, their jobs or our soldiers in Iraq.’ He just wants our country to fail.

To me, that’s treason. He’s not saying anything differently than Osama bin Laden is saying. You know you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker but he was just so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight

“Too much?

“You’re laughing inside, I know you’re laughing.

“Rush Limbaugh — I hope the country fails. I hope his kidneys fail, how about that?

“He needs a waterboarding, that’s what he needs.”

But a Fort Worth Golfer, known for his humor said:

The flood doors of outrage came in crashing on the poor guy and his joke was told to others as a hit on the Military!

Goodness gracious… you would think all of the things the Obama has done to the military, starting with skipping the Medal of Honor Ball on Ingaugration Day, threatening to take away medical care for the wounded to fund programs He felt were more important, and classifying vets as terrorist were something to hail as insult… however, the mainstream media demanded their “pound of flesh”.

Feherty, a former Ryder Cup player who grew up in Northern Ireland, has gone to Iraq over Thanksgiving the past two years to visit with U.S. troops, and he created a foundation to help wounded soldiers.

So, the unnecessary apology came…

“This passage was a metaphor meant to describe how American troops felt about our 43rd president,” Feherty said in a statement. “In retrospect, it was inappropriate and unacceptable, and has clearly insulted Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid, and for that, I apologize. As for our troops, they know I will continue to do as much as I can for them both at home and abroad.”

What ugliness…I suppose as long as you wish harm to conservatives.. it’s just humor…My, my, my…I guess my Mama taught me better…

Clearly the POTUS (yes, although I have much respect for the office of the Presidency… I just cannot seem to bring myself to connect that anti Patriotic, prayerless “O” name to that Revered Office of the President of the United States w/ out  growlin…Bless his heart..) and his cohorts don’t survive this crazy world with the same sense of humor as the rest of us folks out here..

It is even rumored that if a well known Comedian takes on Obama-isms… he or she should be watching over their shoulder for those men in black to come and take him at any time… but I digress…

Ya’ll, I like a joke like any other person out there.  Goodness knows this gal has done much to be laughed at by others and myself… so you will understand when I am hootin’ and hollerin’ after I have made a gaffe something Gawd Awful… it happens all the time in my little ole life.

If those comedians could just realize – making a political point isn’t the only reason to make a joke.. sometimes it actually is about making folks laugh…

No humor in the fact that Obama was not going to end his golf game to deal with an outbreak  of “Swine Flu”? Or how the POTUS refuses to work weekends?… If I were a comic the place would be roarin’ with laughter!

For Heaven Sakes, there’s humor on either side of the fence.. from Rush ( I do believe Obama had a laugh on Rush..at least that was on the video..) to The Obama…

It is okay to laugh at a conservative joke as well as a liberal one w/out losing your life or livelihood.. at least it SHOULD be..but then the Obama regime has really decided to get ugly about that too.

Maybe one day, the Comics will get it… and FOX won’t be the only network to sweep the ratings and money.  Wouldn’t that be a hoot?!

Seems to me that with the our Great nation goin’ to Heck in a hand-basket and the Obama in the driver’s seat …We the People should be able to poke fun at the regime that’s dragging us down to those depths of debt, and down right humiliation that would make our Founding Father’s role over in their graves… Laughter may be all we have left before Obama’s “scorched earth” policy is through, it sure as the Dickens won’t be money or the American Dream.

I am Mad as H*** and I’m not going to take it… Anymore!

Ya’ll remember that moment right?… Well.. my little thoughts are right along those lines this morning…Small observations that I noticed from our local elections - by local I mean Big D (for those of you just joining us – That’s Dallas, Texas)… “where the higher your hair is the closer you are to heaven“…

We had our mid term -thank goodness Obama is over -elections.  There were the assorted issues and bonds reeking havoc on commercial tv… but then there were the more interesting races.. City Council Seats and Propositions…

There were a slew of incumbents of City Council seats up for grabs…

Then there were some council seats that the incumbents had to step down from because of those darn term limitations…Those public servants that had to exit kindly selected and groomed their replacement… which Big D of course would approve…

The other hotly debated issue was Proposition 1… the New York, I mean Dallas Mayor supported a Convention Center Hotel that will be funded by Taxpayers – to the tune of about $500 million…It was part of his vision for Dallas..

Many, like myself just didn’t share the Mayor’s vision… nice guy, the Mayor… maybe it just came down to needing glasses?

A convention center hotel was a great idea… but why did Taxpayers need to pay for it??  The fact that no one stepped forward to want to build the hotel in that desolate part of town was just astounding to me… oh, I forget, a company did offer to build it.. with $140 million tax abatement but the Mayor and his councilmen didn’t think it was a good enough deal.  Nope, We The People NEEDED to be on the hook for that $$ 1/2 billion.  It would mean jobs… I must be slow because in the middle of a recession I didn’t know I was hiring?  After all, who was going to be bankrolling the staff?  We The People.

We have a couple different kinds of Republicans here in BigD…

The Pro Establishment:  Ya’ll know who I mean..”I made my money so why fix it if it ain’t broke..”

The other Republicans: The ones w/ kiddos in school… trying to make it to the Preston Hollow neighborhood -because all ya’ll know that the Park Cities are really just a good lookin’ bubble…

These other Republicans are the Reagan conservatives that truly believe in the motto…”government isn’t the solution but government is the problem”… They also are somewhere in their 20’s-early 50’s.  These are the families that understand fiscal responsibility – up close and personal like…EVERYDAY.

It was obvious this weekend that there was a clash between the two… and the “Why fix it … I ain’t broke” Republicans won.

In some of the races… it was a big victory … like in predetermined council seats…approval was not needed – just expected.  Incumbents, I suppose would be the opposite of “CHANGE” .. so , maybe by re electing them we would never have to worry about following the Obama sweep… nope, we voted to keep many of those Republican LITE, ineffective councilmen in office…even if qualified conservatives were running against them… we would show Washington By Golly…

As for the Taxpayer Funded Hotel…51-49% voted in favor of supporting further debt… it was touted as a big Victory… when in truth, it was won by a slim 2% margin… smaller margins of error than on most polls,studies…and  in my checkbook…

Guess it was all about the “vision”… I s’ppose I just figured that the vision was a little too expensive for my home town which was already in debt up to its eyeballs.  I wondered about the whole vision thing as well… I am already funding a family of five allowed one free garbage can by the City and only 1 pickup a week. I wonder if I drank from the Mayor’s kool aid if I could ever see garbage pick up twice a week or just maybe an additional trash can paid for w/ my tax dollars… Now that would be a vision I could vote for!

However…hope is like an oil well that springs eternal… that 49% … it’s not a small number… that 49% also includes the expanding number of Conservatives that are not holding the “Republican Lite” line.  These are the younger pro Reagan, Fred Thompson supporting Republicans,quasi libertarians, and independents that are growing in numbers.  That lovely 40+ thousand that can eventually retake the Party…perhaps not in dollars.. but in pure votes…

So – today… the 214 area code won a battle… but our numbers are getting stronger each day by Golly… we, that are saying “I am mad as heckfire and I am not going to take it anymore! “

Obama knew (see here) before our taxpayer money at AIG flew. But was only upset… when the Press had a clue.

Only then in front of cameras and mics with teleprompter in sight did the Obama say, at last, “This just isn’t right.”

Now that is transparency for you!

Local Politics.. how to run a city

Normally, I never talk about what is going on in my current city. But, I have got to tell you, I am really angry at our mayor and my councilman.

I am a big believer in local government owning the issue of providing basics to run a city… police, schools, sanitation…etc.

Nothing of course is perfect. We have a crime rate on the rise. We are now down to picking up trash to once a week… with recyclables picked up once a week.. (with a family of five.. I can go on and on about that travisty!) I am big believer in the broken window theory for city government.

But, when a mayor along with irresponsible councilmen want to saddle my family and I with a liability for a City.. should I say Taxpayer owned Convention Center Hotel!!!! And the mayor makes a statement that says getting voters to approve tax dollars for the project is simply silly… it is not for taxpayers to concern themselves with…I am incensed.

I have heard the argument that this will bring an abundance of conventions to our town… yet I look at the fact that NO ONE currently wants to go to convention center now for any reason due to high crime and general uncleanliness..and I think that these so called “public servants” are insane and swindling me out of my hard tax dollars along with everyone else in my city.
These city government people argue that we are the only major metropolitan that doesn’t have a hotel connected to our convention center. They say it will bring in loads of city revenue… they want to use stimulus TAX PAYER dollars from the Federal government for this project… I am going to go out of my mind!

We, mere citizens and voters in this city have voted against this project before. We were ignored.

We mere citizens and voters in this city have further organized and been able to get enough signatures to put a referendum together for vote on May 9th. The City Mayor and Council ignored us again and decided to approve funds to begin the project and started on the construction site yesterday.

The Mayor and City Council have violated their contract with we, citizens and mere voters… we are fighting… because..this is not the business of government. We earned our tax dollars for sanitation, security, and infrastructure..etc.. Not a hotel with additional city employees to run this business.

This is so wrong.. now, the Mayor may have to raise property taxes to further fund all of his civic pet projects like this.. due to the economic downturn.

Government is not the answer government is the problem.

No religion in America?

According to polls taken by Trinity College,  Americans have lost their religion. (here)

I wonder if the almost unstoppable economic growth of the nation in the past 15 years has anything to do with it?  I would love to see that poll taken again in the next year… I think there would be an entirely different result.  It has always been the case when mortality or security seems assured… God is not the top priority.

Yet, when there is fear, desperation, and worry… God makes a reappearance.  What were the figures following 9/11?  I am hardly convinced that Americans have turned their backs on religion.

I wonder too if this something that is promoted by our seemingly non religious president?

Tax Increase for 95% of Americans

As I read this WSJ article.  I am struck once again on how this Tax and Spend President who has no idea how the economy works is getting away with taking more and more of our  hard earned taxpayer monies.

We are in a recession and yet this incompetent, better known as Barack Obama.. continues to get away with pushing a socialist agenda on our Capitalistic nation.  Recessions… even at their worst generally, average around 14 months.  Yet, because of the Obama’s poor education in something like economics… we are looking at 2 years.  The stock market has voted “no confidence” in this guy but he is still running unchecked…

You bet I am angry. Especially as I watch… billions in an Omnibus spending bill full of earmarks and pet projects go through Congress…these self serving so called representatives NEED TO GO…

As Obama touts his “green plan” that we are to pay for… another person I know is losing his job.  As he continues on about public work programs… a degreed professional is taking a job as a janitor.  This is not how America works… since when have we ever let the Federal Government spell out a blue print of our success?  A government that according to George Will will grow in the neighborhood of 20% +.

Whatever we can do in 2010 to lessen this Obama regime… the better.
